    Growing up in rural Kentucky, Dr. Latricia Allen-Soto witnessed first-hand the complications that can arise from lack of healthcare access. This led her to pursue a career as a physician. “My favorite part of my profession is not only having the opportunity to provide podiatric care and foot prevention education to my patients but also developing valuable relationships with them,” she says. She is passionate about preventative care and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of her patients. “My grandmothers always told me to treat my patients as family,” she says. In her free time, Dr. Allen-Soto loves spending time with her husband, two kids, and French bulldog. She especially enjoys painting, baking, and doing Zumba.

    Dr. Miriam Gwathney explains that her own experiences with physical disabilities led her to pursue a career in healthcare. “I understood what my patients have experienced during the various states of diagnosis and treatment,” she says. She strives to be available for patients and likes seeing them frequently. “I want to make sure that my patients feel comfortable with me and that their needs are being met,” she explains. She adds, “My favorite part of my profession is developing long-lasting relationships with my patients as well as my staff.” Before realizing her interest in science and medicine, Dr. Gwathney was an artist. She loves sewing, crocheting, and knitting in her free time. She also enjoys playing with her kitties.

    Dr. Manu Jacob George was first inspired to pursue medicine while caring for his grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s. Serving “as a live-in volunteer at an ashram and mission hospital” further cemented his passion. He loves connecting with patients and their families. “What I find most rewarding in this specialty is the opportunity to actively engage in the ongoing comprehensive care of each patient,” he says. He describes himself as having “an unquenchable thirst for medical knowledge, an unwavering resolve to confront challenges headon, and a deep-seated commitment to providing care to both individuals and communities.” Dr. George loves playing badminton, hosting family gatherings, and spending time with friends in his free time.

    Dr. Mehak Bansal was inspired by her physician parents to become a doctor. “Being able to help even one person everyday helps me sleep better at night,” she says. She aims to build long-lasting relationships with her patients through “effective listening, trust, and patient education.” She finds it extremely rewarding to be a physician and is “thankful for having the opportunity and responsibility to impact someone’s life.” She adds, “My job is to keep them healthy, and good physical and mental health equals capability of taking on a lot of different problems in life in good spirit.” Dr. Bansal loves learning about the world. In her free time, she enjoys exploring different places and cultures. She also says she is very spiritual.
